HIKING
Or 'tramping' as it is known in New Zealand is a popular pastime and one that can be enjoyed on many levels at Treetops. Simply walk out the door and you're at the trailhead of over 50km of walking tracks through the forest of the estate. There are also a wide range of walks around the lakes surrounding Rotorua and the Central North Island - including the Tongariro Crossing, which has been consistently voted the top one-day walk in New Zealand.
HORSE TREKKING
Horseback riding is an incomparable way to view the estate.
Our specialized horses cater for all types of riders from beginning to experienced and even children. With 100% safety certified New Zealand Stock Saddles, let our experienced horseman and favorite "Kaumatua" Diddy, lead you on the "Best 2 to 3 hour ride in New Zealand!". Enjoy his knowledge and humor while you blaze new trails that wind through the native bush and open grasslands and into the wildlife center of the estate.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
The Rotorua region is one of the world’s great mountain biking destinations. Whakarewarewa Forest, only 15 minutes drive from Treetops, has over 300km of dedicated mountain bike tracks. There is also several trails on the Treetops Estate that are ideal for biking, and we have mountain bikes available for you to use.
HUNTING
Hunting at Treetops is all about quality of trophies taken in the field. With 2,500 acres of picturesque, native bush and clearings, a spot and stalk type of hunting applies. We have five species of deer, pigs and a healthy population of free range pheasants to harvest each year. Visit

FISHING
The presence of four lakes and more than 60 rivers on the 2,500 acres estate makes Treetops an ideal fishing destination.
Treetops offers world-class fly fishing with some of the country’s top guides. We have a diverse range of waters available to us and with your guide you will fish some of the most beautiful areas in the country boasting some of the best year-round brown and rainbow trout fishing in the world. For anglers wishing to enjoy boat and fly fishing in the Rotorua region, Treetops offers daily guided fishing ventures with experienced, professional guides, whether it be by 4WD or helicopter.
